I'm Sally Mellor - Dietitian &
Integrative Nutrition Health Coach

I have always been passionate about diet and a healthy way of living. I studied Nutrition and Dietetics at Kings College in London and worked as a dietitian in a major NHS teaching hospital for over 20 years. I went on to develop a more holistic approach to health by training as a health coach with The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York.

As a member of the British Dietetic Association and Health Professionals Council, I combine my knowledge and experience as a dietitian with the latest developments from some of the world’s top nutrition and health experts to understand how the way we live our lives can improve our health.

Our ‘food’ is all of the things that nourish our bodies and our minds, not just the food on our plate.  What we eat and the way we live has the power to prevent and treat an astonishing array of health conditions. It is medicine. I help people to nourish themselves with these five essential  foundations of health:

As a coach, I love supporting people to take control and improve their health through diet and lifestyle changes. It's so rewarding to share their journey as they make incremental changes in everyday choices and behaviour, to bring sustainable, lasting and positive changes to their health.

With a strong background in paediatric medicine, I can offer help to children and families as well as adults. Family and other relationships are so important for our health. I am a wife and a mum of 2 girls. When I'm not working I love to run, cook, do yoga and drag my husband and kids out on bike rides and walks in the country.

How I Work

My approach is to work with you and help you make the changes necessary to protect and restore your health. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach: We are all different and I will listen to you, educate you and empower you, not just label you by whatever diagnosis you may or may not have.

I offer a valuable perspective from a career in nutrition and dietetics combined with health coaching. As a dietitian I can help you navigate your way through medical language and confusing and conflicting media messages, and explore which dietary and lifestyle changes will benefit your health. As a coach I can work alongside you and help you so that step by step you can implement these. It’s a collaborative approach, not a prescription.

I am happy to work with you directly as well as alongside your GP or other health professionals, to help you to explore and understand what’s going on in your body. Together we can create a bespoke plan to improve your health in the long term.  I’m not talking quick fixes or fad diets but gradual and sustainable positive changes that are built on good scientific research and evidence; something that is built to last.

During consultation sessions we will explore and get specific about your health goals.  I will guide and motivate you, not just tell you what to do, and we will dig deep into the ‘why’ and the ‘how’.

I am happy to offer coaching sessions face-to-face or online using video conferencing tools, so location is no impediment.

I offer an initial 15 minute consultation over the phone or video, free of charge. If you decide to continue, I recommend regular sessions over a minimum period of 3 months. This gives you the opportunity to gradually establish new health habits which will move you one step at a time towards your health goals. It also gives us the chance to work together to find out what works best for you and to address any setbacks which may happen along the way.

My goal is to equip, empower and support you, not just to give you information, so that you can take back control of your health in a sustainable way.

Dr Sally Bell has 20 years’ experience as a medical doctor specialising in lifestyle medicine and her passion is to put health firmly back into your hands. She developed the framework of Five Foundations to underpin all health.

Alongside her NHS work and private health clinic, Dr Sally Bell speaks regularly at events that promote health and well-being, contributes on BBC radio, acts as an advisor to the British Army on wellbeing and works within the farming, food and hospitality industry, seeking to highlight the power of our lifestyle choices in the pursuit of health.

She lives in Nottingham, UK with her husband and three children.

Prices

After the free initial 15 minute consultation session, typical prices are as follows:

A consultation session followed by a detailed initial report with health improvement recommendations tailored to you is £85.

Each session typically lasts for 50 minutes and can be in-person or online.

I then offer 2 options for ongoing coaching support:

  • 5 further 50 minute sessions meeting fortnightly, over 3 months
  • 11 further 50 minute sessions meeting fortnightly, over 6 months

The fee for each subsequent consultation session is also £85. This includes written notes summarising the session with agreed recommendations for you to work on, along with relevant handouts and email support between sessions to check in and see how things are going.

I offer the option of substituting a consultation session for a ‘Supermarket Tour’ or ‘Pantry Overhaul’ as this can set you up for making better and more informed choices when you shop and cook.  I also can offer cooking sessions (including online) if this is helpful.

If you are able to pay in full at the start, I offer a 5% reduction on the 3 month option and a 10% reduction on the 6 month option.

All prices are inclusive of any applicable VAT.
